Leandre Cervera i Astor (Gràcia, Barcelona, 1891-Barcelona 1964). A veterinarian, he earned his Bachelor’s in Medicine in 1914 and PhD in Madrid. He worked with Ramón Turró at the Municipal Laboratory of Barcelona and at Agustí Pi i Sunyer’s Institute of Physiology. He was a Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and director of the Pathology Laboratory of the Technical Agricultural Services of Catalonia. He was also one of the proponents of social medicine. He went in exile in France. When he returned to Barcelona, he was issued a fine and sentenced to two years of professional suspension. He wrote numerous scientific publications on metabolic and endocrine illnesses.
