L'Hospital de Santa Caterina (St. Catherine Hospital) was outside the walls, between the portal Portopí-current bastion of San Pedro and the site now occupied by the parish church of San Magin. The Hospital was founded in 1343 by the wealthy merchant Ramon Salelles following a promise he made to feel helpless in a shipwreck. His role was primarily intended to serve poor sailors. Originally had capacity to serve 12 disadvantaged. The Santa Catalina was also one of the hospitals during the second half of the fifteenth century, they moved to join with the intention of creating the General Hospital.
