Manuel Corachan i Garcia (Xiva, La Foia de Bunyol, 1881 – Barcelona, 1942). A surgeon, he earned his Bachelor’s in Barcelona in 1905. In 1921 he was put in charge of the Surgery Service at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. That year he founded Corachan Clinic in Sarrià. In 1933 he was appointed a free Professor of Surgical Pathology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and in academic year 1934-35 he was appointed Professor of Clinical Surgery. He went into exile in Venezuela in 1937, where he led the Institute of Experimental Surgery and served as a Full Professor of Anatomical Technique at the University of Caracas. He returned to Barcelona in 1941. He was a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Barcelona and President of the Medical Sciences Academy and Laboratory.
