Esteve Terradas Illa (Barcelona, 1883 - Madrid, 1950). He had a doctorate in the Exact Sciences and the Physical Sciences, and was also a civil engineer and an industrial engineer. He was a Full Professor of Mathematical Analysis and Mathematical Physics at the Central University of Madrid, and later a Professor of Acoustics and Optics, Electricity and Magnetism and Rational Mechanics at the University of Barcelona. In 1914 he was given the Chair in Automotives at the Labour School. Among other national and international posts, he was a member of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences and the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona. In 1911 he was the first president of the Astronomy Society of Barcelona.
