The Ebro River Observatory is a research institution founded in 1904 by the Company of Jesus to study Earth-Sun relations. It is a non profit foundation which has been associated or coordinated with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). Since 1920, it has worked in close conjunction with the National Meteorology Institute and other institutions, such as the National Institute of Aerospace Technique and the Cartographic Institute of Catalonia. Today the observatory is organised into four departments: geomagnetism, ionosphere, seismology and meteorology, climate and solar activity. It houses data on observations dating from 1880, particular seismic and ionospheric archives.
